Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024 and the first deaf contestant in the history of the competition, has stepped down from the Miss Universe pageant with the grand finale scheduled to take place on November 16 in Mexico. The Miss South Africa Organisation announced her exit on Friday with health concerns being the reason behind her decision.

Mia, in a very emotional statement, said, “I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging but i’m grateful to focus on my health and recovery so I may continue to service my country with full strength.”
Her trailblazing entry into Miss Universe inspired millions, which made her pulling out for good a bittersweet moment for her followers. While saddened, supporters still cheered for her health and future achievements.
