Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has sparked controversy online after alleging that his opponent, Portable, employed diabolical means—commonly referred to as juju—during their much-hyped celebrity boxing match.
In a viral video on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, the controversial artist claimed that his shoulder became dislocated mid-fight, despite not being fatigued.
According to him, this unusual injury was proof that native charms were involved.
“E pain me, I no no Wetin happen whether na juju wey Portable carry come, I never tire, my shoulder just dislocated. I felt it was because I was swinging wide. The ambulance on ground fixed my dislocated shoulder but I was told not to continue because it might lead to surgery. The painful thing now is the money given to Portable, he’ll go now and be lavishing the money. It’s painful I’ll have done my own Juju,” Speed Darlington insisted.
His comments came in the wake of the celebrity fight which saw Portable declared winner by technical knockout.
The event, titled Chaos in the Rings, took place at the Balmoral Centre in Lagos and had been building anticipation since the fighters clashed during their weigh-in on Thursday.
After the fight, a video emerged showing Speed Darlington’s arm being treated and wrapped, further fueling the online buzz.
Reactions have flooded social media, with users divided over the juju allegations. While some mocked the claim, others expressed concern, calling for better regulations around such entertainment fights.
