Nigerian actor, Aremu Afolayan has reacted to the up surge of fuel pump price from ₦617 to ₦897. On September 3rd, 2024, Afolayan went on Instagram to complain about the fact that Nigerian society is demoralizing, making it feel like it is worthless to engage in a legal business. He shared his regret about not engaging in fraudulent activities, saying,
“All of the days wey dem dey talk about yahoo yahoo, na today I regret pass say I no do am.”
Most of his followers echoed his sentiments, as they also complained about the economic hardships that the Nigerian economy has subjected them to. Some stated that due to high cost of living in the country, people are turning into a life of crime in their bid to survive.
The recent increase in fuel prices has made it worse for anyone willing to earn an honest living, thus increasing the levels of corruption in the country.
