Nollywood Mourns the Loss of Beloved Actress Elizabeth “Ovularia” Evoeme

Nigerian entertainment is in mourning after the passing of veteran actress Elizabeth Evoeme, fondly remembered by audiences as “Ovularia” from the iconic 1980s sitcom “The New Masquerade.” Ms. Evoeme passed away peacefully at the age of 81.

Tributes poured in from fellow actors who shared the stage with Ms. Evoeme. Jide Kosoko, who once appeared as a guest star on “The New Masquerade,” spoke highly of her professionalism and dedication. “We’ve lost another treasure,” he said, “but what a wonderful life she lived!” He praised her punctuality, respect for directors, and commitment to her craft, calling them qualities all actors should strive for.

Another Nollywood legend, Adebayo Salami, known as “Oga Bello,” expressed his shock at the news. He acknowledged the inevitability of aging but emphasized the pain of losing a friend. “We’ll miss her dearly,” he said, “but her legacy will live on.” Actor Fred Amata also shared his condolences.

Ms. Evoeme’s family released a statement announcing her passing. They expressed their gratitude for the love and support she received from fans throughout her career. “Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme will be deeply missed,” the statement read. “We ask for privacy during this difficult time. May God bless you all, and may Elizabeth rest in perfect peace.”

Ms. Evoeme’s contribution to Nigerian entertainment will not be forgotten. Her work on “The New Masquerade” brought joy to countless viewers, and her professionalism serves as an inspiration to aspiring actors.
