The Obidient Movement has renewed its political engine, vowing to surpass its remarkable 2023 election achievements as it begins early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. This bold declaration came during the All Obidient Forum conference held in Asaba, Delta State, organised by the Delta Obidient Elders’ Council.
Chief Chris Biose, the state chairman of the Delta Obidient Elders’ Council, applauded the unwavering dedication of Obidient supporters at home and abroad. He described their efforts as “heroic,” crediting the movement with amassing over 10 million votes for their presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, within months of campaigning. According to Biose, this feat left other political parties in disbelief, especially seeing that our political sector is long dominated by the APC and PDP.
Biose spoke about the challenges ahead, emphasizing the urgent need for electoral reforms to dismantle what he referred to as “incompetent and anti-people government structures.” He pointed out that the Movement’s next priority should be developing strategies to counter electoral manipulation, which he termed as “marauding” by entrenched powers.
“The first step to building a New Nigeria is electoral reform,” Biose stated. He also highlighted the crucial role of Nigerian youths, calling them the “body and soul” of the Obidient Movement. As elders, he said, their duty was to guide the youth in upholding core social values while steering the Movement toward its goals.
Keynote speaker Prof. Chris Nwaokobia took the stage with a fiery critique of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which he described as a “monstrous failure.” According to him, the current leadership has not only lost direction but has also plunged the nation deeper into economic chaos. His message to the Obidient supporters was clear: the fight is far from over.
“We will repeat even more of what we did in the 2023 election. Just because they stole the 2023 election doesn’t mean they will steal the 2027 election,” Nwaokobia declared. “We will not give up on Nigeria. Be like fishers of men; go and bring more people into the Obidient Movement. A New Nigeria is possible.”
Joining the conference via Zoom, Mr. Peter Obi himself weighed in on the importance of early mobilisation. He praised the theme of the conference, “Reawakening and Harmonising the Obidient Movement for a New Nigeria,” as timely given the nation’s dire economic state.
Other notable figures, including Prof. Pat Utomi, Delly Ajufo, Chris Iyovwaye, and Dr. Yunusa Tanko, also joined virtually, echoing Obi’s call for early action. They reflected on the Movement’s success in 2023 despite limited time and resources, expressing confidence that 2027 would bring even greater achievements if preparations started now.
The Obidients are doubling down on their mission to change Nigeria’s political sector. I’m anticipating 2027 election eagerly, hoping to see how the obedient movement would be like.
