Residents of Akwa Ibom State had gone about their normal and lawful duties unmolested as the youths did not participate in the nationwide October 1 protest that human rights activists, Sowore had encouraged.

News reporters in Uyo metropolis had said that there was no sign of a gathering in any of the popular landmarks in the state.

At the popular Ibom Plaza, the people were only seen in clusters discussing bad governance and the increase in petroleum products, with some of those gathered, selling their wares while a few others were seen glued to newspapers

Consequently, at Cenotaph, there was still no sign of protest as the place was empty and bereft of social activities save for a few policemen and other security operatives positioned at strategic locations.

It is noteworthy to mention that the state governor, Umo Eno had donated the sum of N310m to appreciate the youths for not participating in the previous #EndBadgovernance protest.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, had while fielding questions from journalists during his maiden press conference on Monday, said the command had made adequate preparations by deploying enough security officials for the protest.
