Nigerian artist, Omah Lay, shared a worrying anecdote recently, saying that he had his idea for what was to be his next album pinched by another musician. From Omah Lay’s angle, he says that the idea was initially proposed to him by an unnamed colleague, and they were both planning to work on it together. However, the artist copied the idea and came up with an album on the same theme unknowningly leaving Omah Lay to begin all over again.
Omah Lay also addressed the occasion during the interview on the Zach Sang Show. He said the experience made him to redo his whole album because of the poor quality. He intended “Holy Ghost” to introduce a new sound that would define the entire album; but when he claims that he had his idea stolen, he changed his mind.
He however remains optimistic about the new release he referred to his upcoming album as the best to be ever released in the history of Afrobeats.
