Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known by his stage name as Omah Lay, has at long last, reacted to fans tagging his style of music as “Afro-depression.”
While responding to his fans in a recent interview with The Beat FM in London, United Kingdom, the singer remarked that he didn’t care about whatever tag his music is given as long as fans enjoyed his tunes.
He additionally said that he would never try to argue with the opinions of his fans.
In Omah Lay’s words: “I just make my music whichever way I want to make my music. I do try as much as possible to stay away from titles and everything the world is trying to ‘force’ on you.
Because as a friend of mine would always say, ‘When the smokes clear, then you see clearly.
“I don’t care what anybody wants to tag it to enjoy it as long as you enjoy the music. If you as a fan feel like it’s Afro-depression, I am okay with that as long as you’re enjoying the music. Some other people would dance to it [and not feel its Afro-depression].
“[My music] It’s art. That’s what I make and I just leave the world to enjoy and interpret it how they want to. The fans have their own opinions, I would never argue with that. If that’s how they enjoy it, then that’s simply how they enjoy it.”
