The residents of the Agbabu community, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state, have appealed to the state government to rescue the community from complete ruin.
According to the residents, the community had the biggest deposit of bitumen in the African continent but the area was sorely lacking good roads, good health facilities, an educational structure, and a decent mobile communication network.
This announcement had been contained in a statement issued out by the Regent and Acting Oloja Agbabu, High Chief Lisa, Oluwatoyin Abiodun, on Sunday, June 18 on behalf of the town residents.
The regent had also requested for the state government to raise the traditional rulership of the town to an ‘Oba’, like other communities in their local government as there was a leadership crisis in the community.
Meanwhile Agbagbu’s statement had claimed that several companies located in the community were dying as there had not been any recent developments taking place in the bitumen town.
