Ondo state has been subject to attack from unknown gunmen, those staying in rural areas in the state, are scared to go to their respective farms, because of the fear of Herdsmen.
Ago Oyinbo, and Ala Reserves Communities, in Akure, North LGA of the State, were attacked by some alleged herdsmen, they destroyed their farms and about right farmers were injured.
Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Ondo State Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident. According to her, on Friday and Saturday, they received reports that some herdsmen invaded their farms, they collected the phones of the farmers, and they also went to kill a 50-year-old, they matched him until he died.
She said, “On 22/04/2023, at about 1720hrs, a case of murder was reported at Ala Police station that while people were working at a farm at Ifeloduro Camp Forest Reserve via Ala, some men numbering about four came to the camp and collected their phones and also matched, one Mr. Olaoluwa Toyinbo Olorunfemi ‘m’ aged 50yrs of Ifeloduro hut Oguniyi Camp Igbatoro Road via Ala, all over his body and he gave up the ghost on the spot.
“The police in the company of the deceased family visited the scene of the crime and the corpse was evacuated.
On speaking with some of the farmers, they complained bitterly and begged the government, to come to their aid and rescue them from extinction.
Ondo State has been subject to several attacks by some unknown hoodlums, it’s almost a year since a church was attacked in Akure leaving over 45 persons dead and several injured, despite the presence of Amotekun, they still find it hard to solve their security issues.
