The optimism for a Nigerian movie to win the International Feature Film, IFF at the 2024 Oscars has been dashed to pieces as the country’s contender for the award failed to make the cut.
The Nigerian Official Selection Committee, –NOSC, had picked Sundance Festival award winning film, “Mami Wata” as its contender for the 96th Academy Awards’ International Feature Film category.
The film, had unfortunately, fallen short of the cut off mark after the release of the shortlisted films from 15 countries that made the list.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made known the shortlisted films for the award on its page.

The 96th Oscars awards which will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024, will be broadcast live in over 200 territories worldwide, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation, Hollywood.
