Victor Osimhen has promised to stay with Galatasaray until the end of the season despite a break clause in his loan deal that could see him leave as early as January.
The Nigerian striker, on a season-long loan from Napoli, made this decision after a crucial meeting with head coach Okan Buruk and club executives.
According to Turkish outlet Takvim, Osimhen gave reassurances of his commitment to the club in the face of the devastating injury to Mauro Icardi.
Icardi, Galatasaray’s first choice forward, was ruled out for the rest of the season with an Achilles tendon injury, and the team desperately needed some stability upfront.
The decision by Osimeh to stay has been a huge boost for the Turkish champions, who rely on the prolific forward to spearhead their attack in the absence of Icardi. Now, the Yellow and Reds will hope the Nigerian can keep the good form going to keep their campaign running.
