The government of Zamfara state has failed to register its SS3 students for the 2022 West Africa Senior Certificate Examination.
In a press statement made by Mr. Olufemi Bamigboye the deputy registrar, he said that the students would not be allowed to write the exams this year as the government has not paid for it, and are also owing payments for over 3 years from 2019 till 2021. The amount owed is calculated to be over one billion, six hundred thousand naira. The registrar said they had registered students last year because some outstanding Nigerians had intervened and begged that the state government reimburse them, but up till now the state government has not responded to WAEC.
Results of students of Zamfara state public school who sat for exams in 2019, 2020, and 2021 are still with WAEC as the government refused to pay the money. He expressed his worries over the students not being registered for the exams as it could breed insecurity issues.
