Oxlade, Nigerian Afrobeat singer, has revealed that he feels more love and support from Ghana than his home country, Nigeria. During a recent interview, the singer explained his decision to feature Ghanaian hip-hop star Sarkodie on his debut album “Oxlade from Africa.” Oxlade expressed gratitude for the warm reception in Ghana, contrasting experiences with what he faces in the Nigerian music industry.

Oxlade also spoke to a string of posts he’d made via social media, in which he expressed anger toward some senior figures in Nigeria’s music world, believed to be blackballing and boycotting him. He explained that such posts were a reaction to the power mechanics in the industry, where some people get to “play god” and determine the fate of upcoming acts. He emphasized how much he despises that frame of mind and how it has rubbed off on his relationship with influential figures in the industry.

Oxlade states that no matter what goes on in Nigeria, he focuses on his career and is grateful for the love he got across borders in Ghana. He continued to show his appreciation for the love coming his way, not only from fans but from Ghanaian artists too.
