BB Naija, a renowned reality game show, brings together Housemates in a specially constructed, isolated house for a designated period. The contestants compete to outlast each other, aiming to claim the prizes offered by Biggie, the show’s organizer.
Recently, Phyna, the winner of the 2022 BB Naija season, voiced her claim that she had yet to receive all the prizes and money promised by the show’s organizers.
This assertion surfaced shortly after Multichoice, the organizer of BB Naija, announced auditions for the ninth edition.
The Practitioners of Content Creating, Skit-Making, and Influencers Guild of Nigeria (PCCSIGN) addressed Multichoice Nigeria regarding Phyna’s allegation. In an open letter shared on Instagram, the guild listed the gifts allegedly owed to the 27-year-old by some of the show’s sponsors. PCCSIGN urged Multichoice to facilitate the release of these prizes from the sponsors, emphasizing that failing to do so would reflect poorly on the sponsors and undermine the show’s integrity.
“This is a young woman striving to receive what she deserves,” reads the caption of the post, expressing the importance of honoring commitments to the show’s winners.
Phyna emerged victorious over more than 20 housemates, securing the N100 million grand prize and other gifts during the show.
Last year, Phyna publicly apologized for her behavior in the first six months following her BB Naija win. She also criticized the reality TV show, describing it as “too toxic.”
