An illegal refinery situated in Agbor Road opposite PPMC Depot that was under the power line in Benin has been destroyed by a Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering Team of the Nigeria Police, the STIFPIB.
The STIFPIB team had acted on a tip-off on the illegal operation of the refining syndicate, and they had smashed 33 mobile metal surface tanks met on the site, a pumping machine, a 40-feet container, five deep gullies, recovered three empty DAF Trucks, and also extra seven mobile plastic tanks ladened with petroleum products.
Two suspects had been arrested at the scene and it was also found that the syndicate had been operating in the facility for a long time despite being located in the heart of the city.
Commenting on the raid, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi reported that he had gotten wind of the criminal act through a whistleblower.
