Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has thrown shade at his peer, Zlatan, referring to him as an “up-and-coming” artist.
The singer questioned the popularity of Zlatan’s songs among wealthy people and implied that he hasn’t achieved complete recognition in the music business in an interview on Echo Room.
Portable recounted a conversation with a car dealer, who apparently advised him not to respond to Zlatan’s antics. The dealer allegedly claimed that Zlatan was using Portable’s name to gain attention. According to Portable, the dealer also mentioned he wasn’t familiar with Zlatan’s music and had only recently started hearing about him.
Portable also criticised Zlatan’s musical style, saying it wasn’t well-received by wealthy individuals.
He stated, “Zlatan is an up-and-coming artist. There was a man I got a car from. I decided to change my car for my birthday, from one of the people I get cars from. He said I shouldn’t have answered Zlatan. He said Zlatan wanted to chase clout with my name. Then he said he didn’t even know his songs that he just started hearing his name.”
He continued, “A lot of wealthy people don’t know some of these artists’ lyrics. What are they singing? Are those songs? You cannot do call and response. Is that music? Are you joking?”
