Shortly after the inauguration of the National Economic Council on Thursday, President Tinubu swiftly proceeded to appoint a team of special advisers. This move challenges the prevailing perception of the newly inaugurated president, indicating his proactive approach to effecting necessary and impactful changes.
According to Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information, President Bola Tinubu has appointed eight individuals as special advisers. In an official statement released on Thursday, it was announced that Dele Alake would serve as Special Adviser of Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, while Yau Darazo would assume the position of Special Adviser on Political and Intergovernmental Affairs.
In addition, Nuhu Ribadu has been appointed as the President’s Special Adviser on Security, and Wale Edun will serve as the Special Adviser on Monetary Policies. Other notable appointments include Olu Verheijen as Special Adviser on Energy, and Zachaeus Adedeji as Special Adviser on Revenue.
Completing the lineup, John Uwajumogu will hold the position of Special Adviser for Industry, Trade, and Investment, while Salma Anas assumes the role of Special Adviser for Health.
The next point of interest for Nigerians is the composition of the President’s cabinet. Will President Tinubu appoint individuals of outstanding character and competence, or will he succumb to favoritism in his selection process?
Fifteen days have already elapsed since Tinubu’s inauguration. How would you rate his performance during this initial period in office?
