Manchester United put up an authoritative performance to thrash Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford for their first Premier League victory under Ruben Amorim and a seventh game without defeat.
United bossed the early exchanges, stretching Everton’s defense with the use of Amorim’s wing-back system. The Toffees gradually grew into the game, and Beto ought to have done better in latching onto a poor error by Diogo Dalot, firing wide as a result. The Red Devils finally took the lead on 34 minutes as Marcus Rashford’s volley was deflected in off a well-rehearsed corner routine to end.
Bruno Fernandes turned provider again before half-time, teeing up Joshua Zirkzee for his first Premier League goal since the opening day, following Amad Diallo’s high pressing.
Everton’s hopes of a comeback were dashed just 21 seconds into the second half as Rashford slotted home his second goal after a brilliant assist from Amad. United continued to dominate, and Amad capped a stellar display by setting up Zirkzee for his second goal in the 61st minute.
That win marked United’s first four-goal margin of victory in the Premier League since August 2021, while Everton’s miserable season continued to see them precariously close to the relegation zone with only two points separating themselves from 18th-placed Wolves.
