The world has lost reggae icon and actor James Chambers, professionally known as Jimmy Cliff.
His passing was confirmed on his official social media channels, which revealed that the celebrated entertainer died “due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.”
On his official Facebook page, his wife shared the heartbreaking news, writing: “It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.”
She took a moment to thank everyone who had been part of his life and career. “I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and coworkers who have shared his journey with him,” she said.
Addressing his global fanbase, she added: “To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career. He really appreciated every fan for their love.”

She also acknowledged the medical team that cared for him in his final moments: “I also wanted to thank Dr. Couceyro and the whole medical staff, as they have been extremely supportive and helpful during this difficult process. Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes.”
The family has requested privacy during their period of mourning and noted that more details would be shared later. “I hope you all can respect our privacy during these hard times. Further information will be provided at a later date.”
