Hon. Deputy Majority Leader led the delegation. Peter Akpatason praised the relationship between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited NNPCL and the Chairman of Tantita security service Nigeria Ltd, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, on the protection of key oil pipelines and other Niger Delta sites.

The team, which was on a three-day supervision tour of Delta State’s creeks and riverine zones, also expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for their tireless efforts in combating oil thieves.

The delegation of 24 people comprised the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Hon. Musa Sarkin Ader, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Hon. Uzoma Nkem-Abonta, Hon. Julius Pondi, Hon. Sergius Ogun, among others. Speaking after the exercise, Akpatason stated that with the unity of purpose demonstrated thus far by the public and private security forces, the country will win the war against oil theft, resulting in increased crude oil output and revenue generation to fund the national budget rather than borrowing.

While praising the work of the Nigerian Navy and other security agencies in protecting oil installations in the area, Akpatason also urged stakeholders not to burn boats and other seized things, but rather to suggest that such seized objects be integrated into government assets.

In his brief remarks, Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, lauded the ongoing efforts to ensure the security of oil facilities as well as harmony within the oil-producing communities and urged lawmakers to develop necessary legislative instruments and policies to sustain the gains made thus far.

Hon Julius Pondi expressed pleasure with the outcomes achieved thus far in the Niger Delta region’s oil-producing communities.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Hon. Musa Sarkin-Adar stated that the existing cooperation will aid in solving numerous challenges of oil theft in the oil business, particularly in the country’s southern region.
