In yet another brutal display of aggression, at least one person was killed and six others were injured when Russian forces shelled the eastern Ukrainian town of Kostiantynivka on Thursday. The attack on this weakened town, located miles from the frontline, was reported by Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin, who posted a grim update on the Telegram messaging app.
“Kostiantynivka faces enemy fire almost daily,” Filashkin stated, highlighting the relentless nature of the assault on one of the most heavily targeted towns in the region.
As if the loss of life and injuries weren’t enough, the shelling also wrecked five apartment buildings, a private house, and a car. It’s just another day of destruction in a town that has become all too familiar with the horrors of war.
So much for any hopes of peace in Kostiantynivka, here, it seems, the daily barrage of Russian firepower is just part of the very sad routine.
