Selena Gomez – the American singer and actress – revealed how she got ready for the role of the Spanish musical Emilia Pérez. In her interview, Gomez said that she even stopped recording music and doing other things she loves to give her character her best.
During a Q&A session at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2024, Gomez explained her intense preparation process. “I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical]. Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher,” she said.
In the movie, the 32-year-old pop star portrays the role of Jessi Del Monte. She said that singing in the movie was ‘therapeutic’.
The first trailer of the Spanish French film that also features Zoe Saldaña was released by Netflix on the 26th of August. The film’s synopsis describes it as “an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations.”
