Former U.S singer, R. Kelly has been found and pronounced guilty of sex crimes of creating child sexual abuse imagery and cajoling minors into sex acts. On Wednesday, September 14, the 12-man jury in the trial convicted Mr. Kelly with six charges out of the 13 charges labeled against him.
R. Kelly was found guilty of coercing three minors into illegal sexual activity and manufacturing three child sexual abuse videos, all of which prosecutors have said involved the same 14-year-old girl.
Previously, the musician had been acquitted of an attempt to block an earlier investigation into his abuse. That same jury had also found him innocent of receiving child sexual abuse imagery and conspiring to receive such imagery as part of an alleged scheme to recover missing videotapes.
R. Kelly who is aged 55, had already been sentenced to 30 years in prison back in June this year after a jury in Brooklyn convicted him of racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Due to that sentencing, he won’t be eligible for release until he is clocking at least 80- 85.
That conviction back in June was the first time R. Kelly had been held criminally responsible for allegations/rumors relating to sexual abuse despite accusations dating back more than thirty years. Yesterday’s conviction in Chicago could add years to that prison sentence.
