Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over serious allegations, including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

The agency issued the notice on Friday through its official Instagram account, calling on the public to assist in locating the entertainer.

“WANTED BY NAPTIP. Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking,” the statement read.

It added: “Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately. Call: 07030000203, info@naptip.gov.ng.”

The development stems from an incident involving a controversial statement made by the singer during a live Instagram session, where he claimed to have engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl. The comment sparked outrage and led to NAPTIP’s involvement.

A letter summoning Okoye for questioning was issued on May 28, 2025. Signed by Ngamaraju Mangzha, the Head of the agency’s Cybercrime Response Team, it instructed him to appear at NAPTIP’s Abuja head office at 9:00 a.m. on May 30.

When PUNCH reporters visited the Wuse Zone 5 office on the appointed day, they confirmed the singer did not turn up.

According to the agency, Okoye later responded formally, requesting a new date and citing prior obligations.

“Hello, I will not be able to come in today. This is very sudden and urgent for me. I already have commitments and responsibilities,” he wrote. “I suggest you reschedule for next month, June 26. I will be in Abuja that day.”

Despite this, Okoye was once again absent on the day he proposed. PUNCH journalists who visited the agency’s headquarters on June 26 confirmed his continued absence.

NAPTIP’s response to his request came in a follow-up letter signed by Hakeem Lawal, Director of Information and Communications Technology and Coordinator of the Cybercrime Response Team.
