Nigerian singer and Grammy-winning artist, Tems, has reached a new career high after matching the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a Nigerian act.
The global music star now stands alongside Burna Boy, with both artists recording seven appearances each on the highly coveted US chart.
Tems secured her latest entry this week as her track What You Need debuted at number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her seventh song to feature on the chart.

•Essence (Remix) (with Wizkid & Justin Bieber)
•Fountains (with Drake)
•Move (featuring Grace Jones)
•Free Mind

With this feat, Tems has also set a new benchmark as the first Nigerian female artiste to notch seven Billboard Hot 100 appearances.
The current ranking of Nigerian artistes on the Billboard Hot 100 stands as follows:
•Tems – 7 entries
•Burna Boy – 7 entries
•Wizkid – 5 entries
•Rema – 2 entries
•Davido, Fireboy DML, CKay, and Lojay – 1 entry each
Born Temilade Openiyi, Tems gained widespread attention in 2020 after her collaboration with Wizkid on the global hit Essence. Since then, she has continued to rise, establishing herself as one of Africa’s most prominent music exports.
In 2023, she earned her first Grammy Award for her contribution to Wait For U, the chart-topping single by Future featuring Drake. She added a second Grammy to her collection at the 2025 awards, winning in the Best African Performance category.
In another historic moment, Tems became the first African artiste to perform at the Club World Cup final in July 2025.
Before her music breakthrough, the singer worked as a digital marketer, a role she exited in 2018 to fully pursue her musical ambitions.
