Ex- Arsenals midfielder Thomas Partey has been named by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) as the main culprit of five rapes and one sexual assault on Tuesday.
In addition, 32-year-old Ghanaian international, who was out of his contract and left Arsenal this summer, was the one whom the investigators have been investigating for a long period since July 2022. At that time, among the reports was one about a Premier League footballer’s arrest for the suspicion of rape, however, the player’s identity was kept secret during this three-year investigation.
The CPS statement reads, “Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Besides, the persons who made the accusations are, three and the period to which they refer is the years of 2021 and 2022. He is scheduled to appear in person at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 5th of August 2025.”
Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, asked people not to speculate: “The defendant is entitled to a fair trial. We want to remind everybody that the criminal events are presently in progress.”
Partey played in 52 matches in all competitions, which he started 45. Uncertainty still shrouds his future in football as he prepares to face the charges in court.
