Two Killed in Ebonyi State Communal Clash

Two persons have been killed in a community land clash between Abaomege and Ishinkwo Communities on Tuesday.

According to some witnesses, the feud started when two men returning from fishing were shot, the community was thrown into panic as all shops were closed down. A policeman too was shot, but fortunately, he didn’t die.

The Police spokesperson for the state, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya also confirmed the incident, the police officer was shot while returning from work, the victims were taken to the hospital, however, the two men shot, were confirmed dead in the hospital while the police officer, is responding well to treatment.

She said, “Three persons, including a police officer, who was returning home after the close of work, were shot at the Abaomege-Oshinkwo communal crisis area by the Oshinkwo warriors.

“The victims were rushed to the hospital. Two of the victims (civilians) were confirmed dead but the policeman is responding to treatment. However, intensive manhunt is on for the fleeing suspects.”

She advised the residents to be calm as the police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the crime.

Reports have it that, the community feud between the two Communities has spanned on for years, as all efforts to resolve the feud have proved abortive.
