Presently, there is a palpable presence of security operatives at the main gate of the University of Lagos– UNILAG, where students had originally planned to protest on Wednesday morning, September 6 m, over a significant increase in their tuition.
Officials of the Department of State Services, DSS, police operatives and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, are currently on the grounds of the institution, as at the time of making this report.
As at about 9:42 am, students of the institution were not granted entry on campus. Some of them were spotted by newsmen, hanging around the Varsity’s gate.
One student who pleaded anonymity before they could be interviewed a Channels Television reporter had disclosed that they (the protesting students) had been disbanded with teargas earlier in the morning while they were trying to assemble.
