The hearing for the new lawsuit filed by Atiku Abubakar against Chicago State University(CSU), which President Bola Tinubu attended from 1975 to 1979 will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, September 12, at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Atiku in this suit, is seeking to pressurize the university to make available documents, information, or objects on President Bola Tinubu or to allow the inspection of premises in a civil action.

Atiku had reportedly, launched the suit days after the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, rejected his petition against Tinubu’s election.

Atiku is of the mind that this case will boost his chances of overturning the judgment of the PEPC at the Supreme Court.

Court papers had revealed that the matter was documented by the Clerk of the court on Friday, September 8, 2023 before the Honourable Jeffrey T. Gilbert and the testimony of Chicago State University, CSU, would be taken in-person on Tuesday.

The documents requested included: A true and accurate copy of any certificate for a Bachelor of Science degree issued by the CSU in 1979; a true and accurate copy of any certificate issued by CSU in 1979 to Mr. Bola Tinubu; true and accurate copies of any diplomas issued by CSU (other than to Mr. Bola Tinubu) that has the same font, seal, signatures, and wording (other than the name of the recipient and the specific degree awarded) as was seen in Exhibit C which alleges to be a CSU diploma issued to Mr. Tinubu on or around June 22, 1979.

The suit supported with many documents also sought the appearance of authentic representative(s) of Chicago State University at a time, date, and place set forth in the supporting documents to give evidence and swear an affidavit that will be taken into consideration for this civil action.
