CAF President Patrice Motsepe has disclosed that Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy encountered an unexpected delay at a Moroccan airport while travelling to Rabat to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert.
Speaking during a recent press briefing, Motsepe revealed that the Afrobeats star was temporarily stopped by customs officials who raised concerns about his jewellery on arrival.
According to the CAF president, the situation required his direct intervention before it was amicably resolved.

“I was called that I need to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened, and it was resolved,” Motsepe said.
Despite the brief setback, Burna Boy went on to headline the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16, delivering a performance that thrilled fans.
The concert also featured performances from Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy, alongside Moroccan artists Stormy and Jaylann.
