Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his ongoing spiritual struggles, revealing that his shift from Christianity to Islam has yet to bring him a sense of fulfillment.
In a recent discussion with streamer Playboymax, Burna Boy admitted that his deep dive into religious texts in search of meaning has only left him more uncertain.
“Growing up, I was a Christian and then I converted to Islam. It’s like I’ve studied it all, but I’m still out here trying to find out what is really going on, you know? The more I research, the more confused I get,” he shared.

The singer emphasized that his journey to understand himself and the spiritual world is still very much ongoing.
Burna Boy’s candid reflections echo a similar revelation from fellow Nigerian musician 9ice, who earlier this year discussed his own spiritual transformation. After enduring a severe “spiritual attack” that confined him to bed for six months, 9ice said he turned to the Ifa religion and expressed regret that he had not embraced it sooner.
In an interview with Nancy Isime, 9ice stated that he wished he had started practicing Ifa earlier, highlighting how spiritual experiences continue to shape the paths of Nigerian artists.
