Former governor of Anambra state and presidential hopeful, Mr. Peter Obi reckons he should get the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 presidential elections because of his wide support base, and strong track record of performance in office, and his private life as a successful businessman.

Though he’s yet to make a formal declaration, Obi claims he’s aware of moves by fellow presidential aspirants to back a consensus candidate to brighten the party’s chances against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) next February and he believes he’s the best man for the job.

Obi made this declaration when a group of professionals presented the PDP Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the presidential primaries to him, urging him to run and help tackle the enormous problems facing the country.

“The presidential candidates are not claiming that the consensus is for a specific region of the country,” Obi remarked.

“They could be referring to a country-wide agreement. As a result, we’re going around engaging with people and talking about everything. You never know; I could be the consensus candidate they’re promoting. We’ve been chatting, and I’m confident that in the end, we’ll figure out who is the best candidate for the job. I have significant support across Nigeria, and in this recruiting, we must be able to investigate people’s pasts and what they have been able to perform in previous employment in order to aid Nigerians in selecting the right choice.”

Obi vowed to return the people’s trust in their leaders once he was elected and also promised to make public his manifesto in the coming days when he expected to publicly declare his ambition.
