Support Tinubu, Get My Backing – Wike Tells Abuja Residents
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strongly denied claims that he plans to run against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. While rumours have been making the rounds that Wike may contest if the Peoples Democratic Party zones its ticket to the South, the former Rivers State governor shut down the speculations, describing them as baseless.

Speaking during an interview with BBC News Pidgin, Wike was clear: “I will not contest. Why will I contest against someone I’m working for?” His statement is a direct response to the growing narrative that he is positioning himself as a rival to Tinubu. By publicly declaring his loyalty, Wike is attempting to silence critics who accuse him of political scheming.

Loyalty Over Ambition: Wike’s Clear Position

When asked about the possibility of the PDP zoning its ticket to the South and whether he would grab the opportunity to run, Wike dismissed the idea without hesitation. He maintained that working under Tinubu’s administration remains his priority, not plotting for 2027. “They said they will zone it to the South, let them zone first. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it,” he said, taking a jab at his critics and political opponents.

His loyalty pledge is, however, raising eyebrows, especially among political observers who have tracked his history of unpredictable political alliances. While Wike says he won’t contest, many are not convinced. Some believe his denial is only strategic and that 2027 is still a possibility depending on how the political tides turn.

Critics Question Wike’s Sudden Submission

Wike’s loyalty statement may have sounded firm, but it did little to shut down public curiosity. His critics argue that Wike’s loyalty to Tinubu is conditional and could change if the political atmosphere shifts. In a political terrain where alliances are often short-lived and power plays are routine, some insiders believe Wike is keeping his cards close to his chest while playing the long game.

Still, the phrase Wike denies 2027 presidential ambition continues to dominate online searches, especially following his interview. While he insists that his place is beside Tinubu, the public isn’t buying it just yet.

Wike Denies 2027 Presidential Ambition, Declares Loyalty to Tinubu

As 2027 draws closer, political speculation will only intensify. But for now, Wike denies 2027 presidential ambition and says he stands solidly behind President Tinubu. Whether this loyalty holds or morphs into a power move remains to be seen. For now, the headline remains Wike denies 2027 presidential ambition, declares loyalty to Tinubu but Nigeria has seen headlines change before.
