Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has consented to the employment of about 158 community nursing graduates of Dr Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, in Damaturu as part of the strategy to improve healthcare service delivery.
This news was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed.
According to the statement, the just employed health workers were graduates of the two sets of community nursing of the college.
Governor Buni had in a similar manner, approved for the payment of a N10,000 monthly allowance to 393 students of Yobe State origin who were undergoing a National Diploma and Basic Midwifery programs at the Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery.
The statement read:
“The approval shows that 67 of the benefitting students are also entitled to 11 months arrears of the allowance.”
Buni had also urged the newly employed health personnel to be committed to serve the people better.
He had also charged them to key into the reform program of the State government to be able to give efficient, accessible and affordable medical services to the people.
