In response to former Governor Bello Matawalle’s claim that the vehicles seized by security agents from his residences were his personal property, the Zamfara State Police Command has requested him to present evidence supporting his ownership in order to reclaim the vehicles.
Matawalle asserted that the majority of the vehicles confiscated by security agencies from his houses in Gusau and Maradun last Friday were acquired before he assumed office as Governor.
He however Condemned the act of the DSS, of seizing his properties without him, bring around, as he was in Abuja when the incident took place, he also accused them of taking other valuables belonging to his family members. He also said that he would not claim the properties unlawfully but will follow due process, saying he has nothing to hide.
However, the Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Yazid Abubakar, stated in a press release that individuals who believe their vehicles were wrongfully impounded should provide proof of ownership to lay claim to such vehicles.
Abubakar emphasized that investigations into the missing vehicles were still ongoing. He urged members of the public who possess any relevant information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicles to come forward and assist the security agents.
Abubakar said, “Persons who feel their vehicles were wrongfully taken while executing search warrants during the course of this investigation are advised to produce proof of ownership to claim such vehicles.”
