2023 Elections: 3 PDP Politicians who Could Pose Stiff Opposition to Gov. Sanwo-Olu

The general election of 2023 is rapidly approaching, and several politicians have begun to declare their goals. Lagos is, without a doubt, Nigeria’s most populous state; it is also the country’s economic capital.

Lagos State is the only state in the southern area that the Peoples Democratic Party has not controlled since the return of democracy in 1999. The All Progressives Congress now controls Lagos State, with Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as governor.

The PDP is aiming to unseat the APC as governor of Lagos State in 2023. One of these three politicians, however, might run for the PDP in 2023.

  • 3. Adedeji Doherty:

1. Jimi Agbaje:

Agbaje is a renowned member of the opposition party who has stood for governor twice, but he has been defeated both times. Agbaje is a well-known person in the Lagos State government. The politician hasn’t stated his intentions for 2023, although he might run again.

2. Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi:

BOG was the Action Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2019. Shortly after the election, he joined the PDP.

Gbadamosi also competed for the Lagos East Senatorial District seat in 2020 but was defeated by the APC candidate – Tokunbo Abiru. It’s been suggested that the lawmaker is interested in running for governor in 2023.

3. Adedeji Doherty:

Doherty is the Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He ran for governor in 2019 but was beaten in the primary by Jimi Agbaje. Adedeji has stated that he is still interested in running for governor.
