Dr. Alex Otti, the newly sworn-in governor of Abia State, has ordered for the immediate suspension of all kinds of Transport Levies payable to the Abia State government and imposed on Tricycles (Keke), Buses, Taxis and other commercial vehicles using the state roads.
According to Ferdinand Ekpeoma, the governor’s media aide on Wednesday, May 31, this new move is in line with the campaign promise of the governor to sanitize methods of revenue collection in the state and cease extorting, intimidating and harassing of motorists.
Meanwhile, the governor has cautioned all those involved, directly and indirectly to cease and desist immediately, or face the wrath of the law, as security agents have been informed and ordered to apprehend and bring to justice, anyone found violating this order.
