Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United managership started with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Marcus Rashford’s early goal provided an optimistic start for the Red Devils, but Omari Hutchinson’s first Premier League goal ensured the hosts got a hard-earned point.

Amorim’s arrival had United supporters excited, and they had reason to cheer inside seven minutes. Amad Diallo’s incisive run and cross presented Rashford, who coolly slotted home to score just his second league goal of the campaign.

Yet Ipswich, under former United assistant Kieran McKenna, responded well. Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap each tested André Onana before Hutchinson’s curling effort, deflected off Noussair Mazraoui, found the top corner in the 43rd minute.

The second half, therefore, saw both teams push for a winner: Alejandro Garnacho came closest for United, while Delap’s flick was brilliantly saved by Onana. Amorim introduced attacking changes, with Bruno Fernandes narrowly missing from a free-kick, but Ipswich’s disciplined defense stood firm.

The draw now extends Ipswich’s unbeaten league streak to three matches, pushing them up to 18th as United stay 12th. Amorim’s rebuild has begun, yet United’s away troubles go on as they pursue consistency.
