The ongoing demolition of buildings that are not legal in Onitsha has not stopped, the activity continued despite yesterday’s holiday. Land owned by a Lawyer, whom he had already fenced off, was also demolished, despite the coffins and charms, he placed on the land.

An anonymous person told a newsreader the government has demolished buildings on this land for the fifth time.

The source said: “The attorney claims the land belongs to his family after it was returned to the family after a 100-year lease with the federal government.

“According to the attorney, the land in question is subject to a 1910-1945 leasehold agreement between the federal government and his family, which returned the family a right of repayment in 2009 and the federal government turned over the land to his family.” He said the federal government acquired the first on April 13. July 2013 and later the other was released in 2019.

The funny thing about the story is that the fence was torn down last year, the lawyer who is obviously a very stubborn man went ahead anyway and built another building on the land and decided to fortify it before demolition by making coffins and Spells placed on the land. The security personnel and state government officials, who obviously have no fear of spells and coffins, demolished the structure, and even the coffins and charms

Cheif Madukwe, chairman of Anambra’s state planning committee, said no amount of “intimidation” would make the state release land earmarked for judges’ housing to the lawyer.

Maduekwe said: “We have orders to arrest and prosecute him if he ever sets foot in this country again. The Anambra State Government can no longer tolerate this type of impunity and will ensure that any intruder is prosecuted.

“The government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo believes in the rule of law and will not allow people to assert themselves with this type of illegal activity.”

Nigeria is a place that is not devoid of daily dramas that we never tire of.
