A good number of hapless patients who had gathered from various parts of Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State, were on Sunday, frustrated when a team of medics coming to attend to them was barred by a group of armed individuals suspected to be thugs from accessing the venue of the medical outreach.

The free medical/surgical outreach is being sponsored by the governorship candidate of the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, -APGA, Professor Greg Ibe.

According to some unverified sources, the armed youths alleged to be political thugs of a governorship candidate from the area stopped the 50-man from gaining entry into the Abayi Council Hall, the venue of the free medical outreach. Also, the violent youths claimed that the venue for the medical outreach had been earlier booked for a New Yam festival celebration.

However, after thorough research, it was gathered that the said New Yam Festival event by the youths has been slated for some time in September.

Dr .Ojum Ogwo, the Coordinator of the Prof Gregory Ibe Medical and Surgical Outreach, confirmed the incident, saying that even the cries and pleas made to the youths to allow the medics entry into the hall so that they can attend to waiting patients had fallen on deaf ears. Afterward, the frustrated medical team later had to move to a safe place in Aba, taking along the medical supplies intended for the Osisioma indigenes.
