Arsenal continued their impressive form in pre-season with a 2-0 victory against Wolves at the Emirates, with early chances coming for Wolves, but Matt Doherty saw his effort blocked by Gabriel.
From a teasing delivery by Saka, Arsenal slowly gained the upper hand as Ben White and Bukayo Saka both tested in the period of Wolves goalkeeper José Sá.
The Gunners finally made the breakthrough just before half-time—Kai Havertz outjumped José Sá, heading home a teasing delivery from Bukayo Saka.
Havertz missed an opportunity to double the lead after halftime, but Wolves strived to score against the Arsenal target through Rayan Ait-Nouri and Mathues Cunha. Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard raised his team thereafter, and it was not long before Saka scored his second, combining with Havertz before firing into the near post.
Arsenal’s defense, the best in the league last season, did not budge from a clean sheet in their intention to again put up a title challenge. But, notwithstanding the loss, Wolves showed some promising moments under new manager Gary O’Neil, although that now made it just the one in their last 11 league games.
