Not less than four students, alleged to be returning home for the yuletide season, were reportedly abducted by gunmen, suspected to be bandits, along the Akunnu-Ajowa road, in the Akoko area of Ondo State.

The Kogi State Polytechnic students had been ambushed on Friday, at Ago Jinadu Axis, in Akoko, an area infamous for crimes, particularly kidnapping.

Upon contact, the Police Area Commander, in lkare, ACP Muri Agboola, remarked that his men had been combing the forests along the Akunnu-Ajowa Akoko road to rescue the kidnapped students.

Meanwhile, the state police command spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, is yet to be reached for further comments.
