The Bayelsa State Government has lambasted Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum, for allegedly attempting to shift attention from his purported manipulation of Saturday’s House of Assembly election in his constituency.
Recall that previously, an election monitoring group had accused Sylva, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministers, of trying to compromise electoral officials and manipulate the results from certain locations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy had said that Mr. Sylva could have addressed the accusations, he had resorted to attacking Governor Douye Diri.
Additionally, the government had accused Sylva of settling back to his habitual terrain of election rigging and manipulation once the election results failed to favour him and his political party.
