Tributes have continued to pour in following the death of celebrated American singer Peabo Bryson, who passed away at the age of 75 after reportedly suffering a stroke.

Bryson’s family announced his passing on Tuesday, describing him as a gifted performer whose music became part of countless memorable moments around the world.

“While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit,” the family said.

“His legacy and music will live on for generations to come. For more than five decades, Peabo’s extraordinary voice served as the soundtrack to some of life’s most cherished moments.

“His music carried generations through joyful celebrations, great love stories and enduring moments of comfort and inspiration.”

The South Carolina-born singer rose to prominence with a string of successful R&B ballads before becoming a household name through a series of high-profile duets. His collaboration with Celine Dion on Beauty and the Beast earned widespread acclaim and won a Grammy Award.

Reacting to the news, Dion reflected on the special bond they shared while recording the iconic song.

“His incredible voice and his kind spirit embodied the beauty of song and performance,” she said.

“He was so wonderful and generous to me all those years ago, when we recorded Beauty and the Beast. He made me so comfortable, as I was just learning to sing in English.

“He will remain for me always as a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life. His voice and his talent will be missed… My heart is with your family, and may you rest in peace, Peabo.”

Bryson enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades and produced several classic songs, including If Ever You’re in My Arms Again, Can You Stop the Rain, and Feel the Fire. His contributions to R&B and adult contemporary music earned him a lasting place among the genre’s most respected voices.

His death marks the end of an era for fans who grew up listening to his timeless recordings, but his music continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
