Jude Bellingham has been awarded the England Men’s Player of the Year award for the 2024-25 season. In a vote of the supporters, he beat both Declan Rice and Harry Kane.
The Three Lions midfielder had an outstanding season with Real Madrid, he was very productive in the eight games he made which contributed to England’s success.
In the UEFA Nations League encounter against Greece, he connected and took home the “man-of-the-match” award in the 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, Lee Carsley’s last game as caretaker boss. Bellingham not only scored but also assisted in that game and later helped Myles Lewis-Skelly’s goal become the new record for World Cup qualifying by setting up the forward in the match against Albania.
Bellingham is presently going through the process of recovering from shoulder surgery and hence he was not available for last month’s fixtures. However, he may be considered for the October internationals against Wales and Latvia.
This award is Bellingham’s first ever England Player of the Year award and thus, he becomes the first non-English club winner to get the award post-Owen Hargreaves in 2006 at Bayern Munich. Since its inception, the award has been won mostly by Wayne Rooney, who secured it four times.
Cole Palmer, who was awarded last year, let Bellingham have the throne, the Jude continues to be one of the best players among England’s elite.
