Chelsea made a stunning recovery as the Blues came from behind to record an exhilarating 4-3 victory over London neighbors Tottenham Hotspur and scored their third successive Premier League win over Spurs. Chelsea overcame the early two-goal deficit and climbed to second place in the league.
Tottenham surged into a 2-0 lead inside 11 minutes, thanks to some hapless defending by Marc Cucurella. Dominic Solanke scored from Brennan Johnson’s cross and Dejan Kulusevski doubled the advantage with a clinical finish as Cucurella slipped up again. Chelsea pulled one back with a stunning strike off the post by Jadon Sancho.
The game saw relentless action with Fraser Forster denying Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto, while Pape Matar Sarr struck the bar for Spurs. Chelsea found their equalizer in the second half when Yves Bissouma conceded a penalty with a reckless tackle on Moisés Caicedo. In came Palmer, who slotted home with confidence as the teams went level again.
Then it was Enzo Fernández who gave Chelsea the lead after a deflected pass released him for a powerful finish. A second penalty, this one won by Palmer, and dispatched with a cheeky Panenka, sealed the victory. The goal of Son Heung-min, deep in stoppage, wasn’t enough for Spurs as Chelsea celebrated a dramatic win of the derby.
