Adachukwu Chukelu Okafor, a lawyer who resides in Akpaka, Onitsha, Anambra state has reportedly, grievously abused a 10-year-old girl by name, Happiness, whom she took into her household to serve as a house maid.

According to a report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), Adachukwu brought Happiness into her home earlier this year, in January after contacting her parents to help her get a child (minor) who would help her with her house chores.

Adachukwu’s parents then proceeded to contact Ifeoma Moughalu, Happiness’ guardian, who lives on the same street as them.

A neighbour who simply gave his name as Calvin had more revelations for FIJ as he disclosed that it was Adachukwu’s parents who connected Ifeoma (the guardian) and Adachukwu (the alleged abuser).

Calvin further revealed that after an agreement was reached, Ifeoma gave Adachukwu permission to take Happiness to her home in Akpaka.

Calvin had said;
“In less than two weeks of taking Happiness in, Adachukwu abused her. [In one instance] Adachukwu claimed she told Happiness to bathe her 8-year-old son but she allegedly caught the little girl fondling her son’s private part.”

“Due to this, Adachukwu used a hot pressing iron to burn Happiness’ buttocks. She additionally used fire to heat up a knife and insert it into the little girl’s vagina,” he added.

This physical abuse apparently did not end there as Calvin told FIJ that Happiness [the house maid] revealed that Adachukwu thereafter chained her, locked her in the house and starved her of food and water.”

Calvin told FIJ that after molesting the girl, The alleged abuser, Adachukwu eventually called Ifeoma (the house maid’s guardian and ordered her to take Happiness back with her and threatened to deal with her and use her influence as a lawyer if she misbehaved [reported her to the authorities].

At the time of filing this report, Happiness has been taken to the hospital by her guardian, Ifeoma for treatment. It was there that she contacted the police to report the incident.

As of this time, Happiness is still in the hospital and the lawyer is allegedly still on the run.

Multiple attempts to reach Adachukwu for her reaction has proven abortive.
More details to come later….
