The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 74 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud during a sting operation in Abuja.
In a statement released on Monday, the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that the suspects were arrested at Joyous Hotel in Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory.
“Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 74 suspected internet fraudsters,” the statement partly reads.
Oyewale revealed that 86 mobile phones, a rifle pistol, and three motorcycles were recovered during the raid.
He added that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations, although no date was given.
