The 2026 FIFA World Cup is getting more exciting by the day, and FIFA couldn’t wait to show the first glimpses of this tournament’s official mascots. For the first time in the event’s history, the three different characters will be introduced. Each one is the mascot of a co-host country, that is, the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
FIFA World Cup has always seen mascots as part of its identity; these figures, in addition to being the most significant and spectacular soccer event’s most remarkable attraction, have also been the embodiment of their times and their hosts’ cultures from the past until now. The first 48-team World Cup off next summer will have Maple (Canada), Clutch (USA), and Zayu (Mexico) as cuddly companions.
By way of a humorous unveiling called “Mascots are coming”, FIFA gave us the character’s names and also allowed brief views of the characters to be made. It is clear that the mascots are blending not only national identity but also sporting roles. Playing out the different characters are Maple who will be a goalkeeper wearing the No. 1 jersey, Clutch being a skilful midfield in the famous No. 10 shirt and finally, Zayu is going to be a striker with No. 9 who will score the goals.
The new and improved look of the mascots is still in the pipeline, therefore, the idea of the draw for the group stage in December is growing bigger with great anticipation. Eighteen countries are already in, so the final show is coming soon, the very biggest in world football.
